Losing Weight Is Easier on a Paleo Diet

The paleo diet has gained national attention recently due to the plethora of benefits the lifestyle offers. Many are looking to jump into the lifestyle of only eating whole, unprocessed foods and emulating how hunter-gatherers ate for these benefits. Many researchers believe that by implementing the paleo diet it can help reduce the risk of many of today's medical issues such as obesity, heart disease, and diabetes to name a few. These same researchers point out that many of our ancestors from the hunter-gatherer era did not experience these same medical issues that have become so popular in today's era, specifically because of what they were eating. Therefore, it can be very advantageous for you to switch to a paleo diet today for its many benefits!  Although many do jump into the paleo diet for its long term health benefits, many of its users are just looking for a way to lose a few extra pounds. It’s great for that too! Changing your diet to be based around a bunch of clean, whole, unprocessed foods can make a huge difference on your body, especially compared to most peoples usual diets. But how is losing weight easier on a paleo diet?

First things first. What can you actually eat within a paleo lifestyle? Many people are scared off before they even begin the diet due to its restrictions. But no need to worry! There are plenty of options within the paleo lifestyle to keep you interested (Even paleo desserts!) Typically for the paleo diet, you are allowed to consume whole, unprocessed animal and plant foods like meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, fruits, seeds and nuts. The lifestyle avoids all processed foods, sugar, dairy, and grains. Where the paleo diet differs, is the lack of calorie counting necessary. Unlike a traditional diet where your adding up all your calories to stay below a certain number daily, the restrictions in place in the paleo diet already are set to keep your calorie intake low. Research shows that although you are not keeping track of your calorie count eating whole, clean food contributes much quicker to weight loss. Why? They are more filling, have fewer calories and reduce the intake of processed foods, which are linked to many diseases. Paleo diets reduce your carb intake by eliminating common sources of carbs like bread, rice and potatoes. It’s important to note that carbs aren’t necessarily bad for you, but restricting your carb intake can lower your daily calorie intake and help you lose weight.

There are many aspects of the Paleo diet that help contribute to weight loss, and much easier than other diets! One of these aspects is the heavy protein intake. Increased protein intake is very normal when switching to a paleo lifestyle as there are many options within that restriction. The lifestyle encourages consumption of protein-rich foods like lean meat, fish and eggs. It can increase your metabolism, reduce your appetite and control several hormones that regulate your weight. Ideal for anyone trying to lose weight through changes in their diet.

To lose weight, typically you need to lessen your calorie intake (which the paleo diet helps you do naturally!). That’s why it’s important to choose foods that are filling, as they can help you fend off hunger and eat less overall. If you struggle with hunger, then a paleo diet could be great for you, as it is incredibly filling and helps you get passed your hunger urges throughout the day.

A big issue with most people's diets today is the amount of processed food incorporated into it. Although many try and lose weight through other diets, they often fail to hit their goals. But why? Often these diets are not cutting heavily processed foods. In fact, many studies have found that the increase in consumption of highly processed foods mirrors that of the rise in obesity. A much better alternative is the paleo diet due to its restriction on all processed foods. Without the selection of sugary, salty, processed foods it can become much easier for people to lose the weight they want. Many people find that it may be extremely difficult to cut out all the processed foods they have been eating their entire life. Many who try and begin their diet journey quickly find themselves not staying committed due to the difficulty in changing their lifestyle. Finding its no easy road to completely transform what they're putting in their bodies. Here at PBH Foods, we make it possible for you not to give up all of your favorite foods with the goal of making this difficult transition much easier. You can welcome the paleo diet into your life with open arms, and not have to give up delicious paleo brownies, paleo cookies or paleo donuts (and more!). With mouthwatering paleo desserts available to be delivered to your doorstep, why not start today and start hitting those goals!

Another huge benefit of the paleo diet is the lack of sugar intake. Like mentioned with processed foods, eating too much added sugar (as is typical in most diets) can be detrimental to your weight loss efforts and health in general. There are things that many people often overlook in their journey for weight loss. Additional sugar adds even more calories to foods and is very low in added nutrients. Not to mention, high intakes of added sugar may increase your risk of heart disease, diabetes, and others. The paleo diet aims to eliminate added sugar altogether and instead promotes natural sources of sugar from healthier alternatives like fruits and vegetables. Although fruits and vegetables have natural sugars, they also provide many essential nutrients like vitamins, fiber and water, all of which are beneficial for health and great for the paleo diet.

Everyone knows how difficult starting a new diet can be with its restrictions, but with the paleo diet you will find great results and benefits for your long term health. It's much easier to lose weight on the paleo diet than other traditional diets. Especially when you don't have to cut out delicious desserts ;)
